About Myself

What is/was your occupation?

My working career began as a Management Consultant with Andersen Consulting, now know as Accenture. I left, aged 29, to travel the world for a year with my partner Andy, then returned to take an MBA. I then worked for 10 years firstly internal consulting then as a Director for the logistics division of an IT Services company. Now I am a full-time Mum and volunteer.

What are your interests or hobbies? What are you passionate about?

I love tennis, hill walking and cooking. I am passionate about all things environmental .. I HATE waste .. barely a thing is thrown in the bin in my house. Leftovers from dinner are my staple lunch! My motto is ‘Waste Not, Want Not’.

What is your favorite type of food/cuisine?

I’ll eat and enjoy pretty much everything. I love Indian food if it doesn’t blow your head off.

What is your favorite food memory? Please provide an anecdote.

A celebration dinner in 1992 for newly promoted managers at a hideaway restaurant called ‘the Riverhouse’ on the Fylde in Lancashire, Northern England. It was here that I first learnt to love olives and drank the most amazing white wine ..Cloudy Bay, from New Zealand, which back then was undiscovered .. now it is super expensive and world famous.

From whom did you learn to cook? Or, what is the best party you have ever attended or thrown?

Cookery classes at secondary school for the basics. Otherwise I am self taught with the help of my favourite celebrity chefs: Delia Smith and Nigella Lawson. My Mum always cooked basic English food .. and a mean English style curry ..but we were always shooed out of the kitchen as she was always in a mad hurry to finish. I love to throw a party .. recently we invited our friends over for a Scottish Burns Night .. complete with Cock-A-Leekie soup, haggis, neeps and tatties and the legendary deep fried Mars bar.

Which charity, if any, do you support?

I am a big supporter, and heavily involved with, the Overseas Women’s Club of Bangalore. They raise money for 25 wonderful local charities, providing help for some of the most disadvantaged people in the area.

Is there anything else you want our Foodies to know about you?

I despise ‘Ready Meals’! All that wasteful packaging for a tiny portion of food.
