Whitefield Volunteers Teachers Group

WVTO is a group of volunteers from Whitefield, Bangalore who have currently adopted three Government schools in the area: Ramagondanahalli Government School (Grades 1-7), Nellurhalli Government School (Grades 5-7) and Siddapura Government School (Grades 1-7) with a total of 620 students.

Teaching English is their flagship program whereby they supplement the English curriculum of the students by imparting them conversational English skills every week (their primary medium of instruction being Kannada). They have recently introduced computer classes at these schools as well.

Through their 'Soles for a Soul' program, they provide these children with new sturdy shoes or sandals as most of the students attend school with bare feet/slippers. At the end of the year, they organize a small class party for the students. Certificates are distributed on completion of the English course at the end of each year. They have also organized a Science fair with help from Agastya Foundation (http://www.agastya.org/)  for the schools of the Varthur sector . Thirteen schools participated and were taught experiments in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
