Save the Children has had a presence in India for over 60 years. Save the Children is registered in India as Bal Raksha, Bharat and is a member of the International Save the Children Alliance. The organization addresses four priority needs of children in 10 states and has reached over 3 million children. These priorities are: improving children’s health and nutrition status; expanding access to quality inclusive education; protecting children from abuse, exploitation and neglect and enabling children and their families to be better prepared to cope with emergencies. Save the Children also works to address the immediate needs of the most vulnerable children and their families in emergencies.

Save the Children works closely with partners at the local level, piloting innovative methods and approaches and building community structures to ensure that children’s rights are protected and promoted. We also work with district, state and national governments to ensure effective implementation of government services and programs and to influence progressive change in legislations in favour of the rights of children.
