This recipe was first presented in our “High Tea with Namee” event where our Foodies had a blast coming up with their own delicious creations. It’s virtually fail-proof and the beauty is that the ready-made pinwheels keep in the freezer for up to a month to be baked as needed.
Roll out puff pastry as needed with rolling pin, spreading flour on the board as needed.
Spread savory fillings as desired, roll the dough, wrap with wax paper or cling wrap and freeze for at least 30 minutes before slicing into 2 cm thick pinwheels.
Cook in oven at 375 degrees F, turning after 15 minutes, for 20 to 30 minutes total until puffy and golden.
Savory filling ideas: cream cheese, goat cheese, blue cheese, marinara sauce, pesto sauce, parmesan cheese, cheddar cheese or mozzarella cheese.
Toppings include any nuts, olives, capers, cooked mushrooms, roasted eggplant or bell peppers, cooked onions, etc. as desired.
Sweet fillings: cream cheese, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, raisins, cranberries, dates, dried apricots, jam, chocolate chips, nutella, etc. as desired.
The idea is to be creative and to have fun with this flaky dough!
