The Power of Us
March 8 is International Women’s Day.
At Food for Cause, one of the key premises behind our mission is our unwavering belief in the Power of Women. In addition to our mission statements, all of us at Food for Cause believe that women represent a powerful driving force in our society capable of tremendous social change. Most of the women I know are personally involved in some form of charitable work or another and are passionate about improving the community in which we all live. That these women make the time to dedicate themselves to volunteer work and to charity in addition to their family obligations and/or careers is remarkable. I truly find these women inspirational.
I have also been so fortunate to know of some incredibly gifted women in Bangalore who are running successful enterprises based on their talent and passion. For instance, Padmaja Kamisetty of Ohana Flowers assembles the most beautiful and tasteful floral arrangements I have seen in Bangalore. Also, Sonali Maniar of Templetree creates special cards and stationery that really impress. Both Padmaja and Sonali are so accomplished in their respective fields that it is a true pleasure to know women like them who are just simply Best in Class. I want to add that their donation of time and materials to Food for Cause also proves how generous and giving they are as individuals.
Last but not least of the amazing women who have inspired me are everyone that I have had the privilege of meeting and working with through Food for Cause. That includes all of our very talented Celebrity Chefs and Hostesses and all of our Foodies as well as everyone on the Food for Cause team. All of these women have donated to charity and have taken action toward positive social change. Their unfailing and loyal support and genuine encouragement of a small grass-roots effort such as ours is so heartwarmingly generous that I am moved beyond words.
Today, I am mentally going over the list of all these inspirational women and thanking them in my heart for all that they do. So to you, I say “Thank You” for the inspiration, support and motivation you have provided to me and to everyone around you whom you have touched. I wish you a happy International Women’s Day.
With much gratitude,
